I was born and raised in Griffith, a city in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, in the Riverina region, in the state of New South Wales, in the Commonwealth of Australia.

My final years at high school saw my energies focused on mathematics, physics, chemistry and economics, the “required” subjects to gain a high enough score to enter medicine. This meant less time to devote to my great passions, cricket, writing and music.

Life dealt me an ironic blow and I sat my final exams in quarantine with the German Measles. The result was that I missed out on entry to medical school by 2% points and instead undertook a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Sydney.

It was here I discovered, somewhat sheepishly at first, politics and the art of debate and so I pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree concurrently with the sciences, focusing on the international sphere. I also discovered just how big the world is outside of my home town and came across too many distractions to return to my passions.

Upon graduating with Honours II-II (the professor marking my thesis didn’t appreciate my attempt to debunk the theoretical basis of his entire life’s work... with good reason, perhaps...), I entered the workforce still unsure of what direction my life should take. In the end I went for the option that would generate the most income, finance and banking.

Within 2 years I’d been offered a transfer to New York City and moved there 6 months after the terrorist attack. Still lacking direction I simply enjoyed the perks and freedom my paycheck and location allowed; weekends in the Caribbean, eating in world-class restaurants every night, popping over to Europe on a whim, that sort of thing.

It was only after a particularly heavy period of excess, and a long period of solitude and saving, that I found direction and rediscovered some forgotten pleasures. While too old to begin a cricket or music career, I returned to my other passion, writing.

I continue to work in the field of finance, but for myself, and find the psychology of markets fascinating. It is an environment where you learn a lot about yourself and how you react to unexpected and pressure situations.

What you find here is the result of this new direction and what I think are the basics for getting by: Words to Inspire, Travel to Enrich, Thoughts to Provoke, Pictures to Transport, Music to Heal.
